Between June 30 and July 3, Zala Kogej Zwitter and Denis Kutnjak from the FITO Department participated in the International Symposium on Plant Virus Epidemiology 2025, held in São Paulo, Brazil. The event gathered leading experts from around the world to discuss advances in the epidemiology of plant viruses and related pathogens.
Denis Kutnjak delivered an insightful talk on plant viruses at the land-water interface, presenting research on virus diversity in aquatic plants and environmental waters.
Zala Kogej Zwitter impressed the scientific committee with her poster on simplifying phytoplasma genome sequencing using the case of Flavescence dorée phytoplasma, earning an excellent 3rd place among student posters.
Both researchers successfully presented their work and contributed to international discussions on plant health and pathogen epidemiology.
